Our Eyes Are On The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro: Tensor, Our Hero
As the OG that developed Android, Google phones have always been known for their great software. But for whatever reason, Singapore never responded. That all changes with Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Google’s doubling down on the geekiness with their very own custom-built processor – the Tensor chip – designed to serve artificial intelligence directly to your phone.
Smart photos = sharp photos
The AI is most obvious in the camera. The new Tensor chip allows for computational photography in both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro – which is basically tech-speak for AI-enhanced images. It’s a bit like having Photoshop in real-time. Offh! 😍
The Live HDR+ makes colors more vivid, even at 4K60. And the AI even helps manage blurring and banding, making every shot look like it was touched-up by a professional. If there’s one thing the AI is good at, it’s getting high-frequency details to look sharp and lively – especially for portraits. Be the next selfie master, maybe?
A new look that’s undeniably Google
At the front end is the Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus™ which has 2x better scratch resistance than previous Pixel phones. The screen itself also manages to keep colors vibrant even in direct sun. Solid, really! 😎
An AI assistant that speaks your language
Google is really showing off their AI voice assist, which would make Siri and Alexa blush. Taking notes is a breeze with live captions, and it also works for private chats and messages – and yes, for videos too.
The AI even knows where to place the correct punctuation. That doesn’t sound like a big deal until you try reading a block of text without any full stops or commas.
Other than that, the voice assist – which supports up to 55 languages – can also recognize a whole slew of commands letting you run your phone without touching it. And we haven’t even mentioned the Screen Call feature which lets an AI voice answer your calls. All you have to do is tap what you want to say (it’s the same tech they use in Gmail).
Let the AI manage your battery life
Even with an advanced AI under the hood, the battery does pretty well. Google promises the battery will last over 24 hours. Seems doable when you have an AI routing power to the apps you use most.
A hero smartphone that gives you full control
For the first time in a while, Google’s Pixel phones are shaking up the industry. But the real hero of this story is their Tensor chip. By making their own chips, Google is able to optimize their phone just the way they want.
And who doesn’t love getting what they want? Yea, we’re always listening. 👂🏼
