Disney+ & You: Jumping on the New Streaming Platform with Rave Reviews
THE COLD NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWA––
Well, this is a little awkward. You caught us in the middle of a moment there – a Disney moment, of all things. But can you really blame us? Disney Plus, or Disney+, has been the talk of the town ever since it finally landed in Singapore and we just can’t stop those classic tunes rattling around our brains.
It’s true that Disney’s new subscription service has officially heated up the streaming battle with the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Go. But what’s its deal? And is it really worth it if you aren’t a die-hard Disney fan? The short answer is yes – here’s why.
Why Disney+ is better than you think
Before you wave your hand and say, “I’ve seen enough reruns of the Lion King to last me a lifetime” (said no one ever, by the way), just hear us out for a second. Disney is way, way bigger than many people realize: they own hundreds of brands and their content offering goes far beyond the animated classics we all know and love.
Disney+ is packed with loads of titles that come under the umbrellas of Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Television, including everything under the Pixar, National Geographic, and 20th Century Fox brands. This means you get access to franchises like:
- Star Wars
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Indiana Jones
- The Muppets
- Disney Princesses
- The Chronicles of Narnia
Exclusive originals like The Mandalorian, WandaVision and The Falcon, and the Winter Soldier are also being added to these franchises, and it seems like there are plenty more to come. On top of these massive franchises, Disney+ also includes all the original animated classics, a whole stack of shows and movies under the new Star brand, and plenty of other familiar titles, including:
- Grey’s Anatomy
- The Simpsons
- Family Guy
- Solar Opposites
- Big Sky
- Free Solo
- Die Hard
- Night at the Museum
- Home Alone
The Thin Red Line
… and the list goes on!
It’s more than just an incredible catalog
There are a bunch of features bundled into Disney+ that are worth paying attention to. The first is that you can have up to a whopping seven profiles per subscription, including optional Kids Profiles that restrict content based on their maturity rating.
It supports streaming on up to four different devices, so you spend less time fighting over what to watch and more time relating to Roz from Monsters Inc. (Seriously, can those monsters just finish their paperwork?)
You can GroupWatch remotely with up to six mates if you each have a subscription, and you can pay extra for Premier Access to get an early viewing of films originally intended to open in cinemas. Unlimited downloads are included to let you watch on the go, and certain movies and shows are available in 4K resolution with Dolby Atmos sound!
How much does Disney+ cost?
Disney+ is a subscription service that costs S$11.98 per month in Singapore, or S$119.98 per year if you prefer to subscribe annually.
If maths isn’t your forte, you save a little over 15% by paying for a year upfront, assuming you do end up sticking with it for 12 months.
You can sign up to Disney+ online and start streaming right away on your phone, tablet, laptop, PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, and a range of Smart TVs.
We’ll grab the popcorn, you grab the unlimited data plan
Take a deep breath and repeat after us: LIFE’S TOO SHORT FOR RUNNING OUT OF DATA. There’s a ton of movies and shows you need to get through on Disney+, so you need to clear your schedule and prepare yourself with our contract-free unlimited data plan in Singapore.
Yes, you heard right. No contract, just endless data all for you, so there’s no interruption to your upcoming Disney+ movie marathons even when you’re on-the-go. Best of all, you can even bring over your unused data to the next month – say what?! Yes, any unused data will automatically get rolled over from one month to the next. Now you have a second chance to use them.

It’s the kind of liberating mobile phone plan that gives power back to the consumer. We didn’t see enough of this in Singapore, so we decided to do it ourselves. Refreshing, isn’t it?
