5 things you need to know about the new Purple iPhone 12

Okay, we have a teeny tiny confession to make. When Apple released the new iPhone 12, an alarming number of people in our team were more excited by the color selection than any of the other bells and whistles. Sure, it can take great photos, turn my living room into a virtual fish tank and transform into a private jet that can fly me anywhere in the world – but does it come with pretty rainbow stripes on the back?

While rainbow stripes still aren’t a thing (yet), Apple has launched the next best thing with an all-new finish for the iPhone 12: purple! The purple iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini are new additions to the original family of black, white, blue, green and Product Red, making us even more spoiled for choice when picking up a new Apple phone. We’ve gathered all the important deets on the new iPhone 12 color so you don’t have to!

1. THE IPHONE 12 IN PURPLE IS DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS

The most important advice we can give you is that the purple iPhone 12 absolutely goes off. Most of the original iPhone 12 colors are much more tame: you have the classic black and white, a subtle pastel green and deep, dark blue. These colors have their own appeal, but red was really the only choice for those who wanted something bold. Not anymore. Purple just hits differently, with a distinct finish that knocks your flippers off the second you see it in the flesh. It’s bright and punchy without being tacky, and shines in different shades with every ray of light. It has a nice lavender hue, though it hasn’t been dubbed the iPhone 12 lavender or anything fancy – just clean and simple ‘purple’.

2. IT’S GOT ALL THE AWESOME FEATURES OF THE IPHONE 12

Fear not! The new purple iPhone is not a Lite model or any other special version that comes with different features. This means you won’t need to worry about downgrading or spend any extra to snag this awesome new color for yourself. The purple model has all the perks of the iPhone 12, including a premium flat-edge aluminium design with Ceramic Shield on the front and the powerful A14 Bionic chip. You’ll also enjoy the advanced dual camera of the iPhone 12, a Super Retina XDR display and support for a range of MagSafe accessories in all-new colors.

3. You can also get the iPhone 12 Mini in purple

It’s not just the main iPhone in the 12 series that’s getting a facelift: you can also get the iPhone 12 Mini in purple. This is great news for those who love the extremely pocket-friendly size of the iPhone 12 Mini, which packs all the power of its bigger siblings into one compact device with a 5.4-inch display. Sadly, this means there is no iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max in purple.

4. IT LOOKS DIFFERENT TO THE PURPLE IPHONE 11

This isn’t Apple’s first foray into purple phones. You may remember the iPhone 11 also comes in purple, but it’s important to note the new iPhone 12 variant is different. Where the purple iPhone 11 is a more faded, pastel-ish color, the purple iPhone 12 is much more vibrant and punchy – but it doesn’t go so far as to look gaudy. If you asked us to choose, we’d go for the new purple color over the old version, especially with the beautiful shade you get on the flat aluminum edges.

5. YOU CAN SNAG THE PURPLE IPHONE 12 FOR JUST $200 UPFRONT

Before you trip over yourself recontracting to get the iPhone 12 or 12 Mini in purple, ask yourself why you’d bother when new Circles.Life customers can pick it up for just $200 upfront on a no-contract iPhone Combo Plan. Already with us? Not to worry, you can still start saving with a Combo Plan, enjoy better benefits and snatch up the iPhone 12 in its dazzling new color.
