While some of us would use more data than others - especially if we enjoy scrolling through social media and watching videos on our phones, there’s nothing worse than realising you’ve reached your data limit and need to pay extra.

Web Browsing

This will vary from website to website, but you’ll be using approximately 60MB of data every hour. Image and video-heavy websites will utilise more data than text-only pages.

What about other apps that I use like TikTok?

You can easily check the data usage of other applications on your phone. To do this you’ll:

1. Open ‘Settings’ before tapping ‘ Mobile’.

2. Then head down to ‘Reset Statistics’. 3. Go ahead and test the app that you’d like to use for however long you’d want before heading back to ‘Mobile’ and seeing how much you’ve used.

For Android Phones, it’s largely the same but you’ll be tapping’ Data Usage’ in Settings instead. You may also not be able to reset statistics on your Android phone, but you can decide which app you’d like to monitor, make a note of the number and check back later.

How much data do I need?

As seen from the above, it really depends on what your phone habits are and it’s better to track your own usage before making a decision. Overall, however, if you enjoy gaming and scrolling through social media, you’re better off opting for more data.
